Why is it so expensive?
Oct. 1st, 2009 12:28 pmWhy is it so expensive being a student?
I'm starting to understand all those people I used to know that just went and got jobs after school and faded into the obscurity of office jobs, council flats and charvyness...
So far this morning I've spent £17 on print supplies:
£3:50 for gum tape for the sides of my screen
£4:50 for plainwaeve fabric
£4:50 for red jersey fabric
£4:50 for brown jersey fabric
and that's not to mention the money I've spent so far on acetates and markers allready for this project.
Dosn't sound like much until you factor in my rediculous rip off rent (I can't get a cheaper flat because nobody will rent flats to students...No fixed income so we get ripped off, last year I payed £50 a week for A BOX ROOM, back home Sarah was paying £50 a week for a ouse share with three people, she had a huge attic room), which has to be payed in a two chunks, the first chunk is £1,300.
I only got £1,600 in loan this term so I have to go beg to the hardship fund for some of it back.
I can't get a job because it would screw up my study time (all but one of the people last year who had part time jobs have either had to quit their jobs or leave uni), and my holiday time.
I'm seriously stressed out right now. Considering seeing how much a screen printing kit and a studio somewhere are and setting up shop making T-Shirts.
In theory I could also have a part time job doing something that's gonna deffinatly bring money in at the same time.
Why do they never tell you at uni sign up that you'l spend the entire time stressed to hell and unable to do anything?
