The case of the vanishing flatmate

So I woke up on Saterday and suddenly realised I hadn't seen my flatmate since Thursday, now that might seem like quite a while before I noticed but Thursday was student night so I assumed she went out and was sleeping it off Friday morning/ stayed out.
Friday never saw her, thought she must have gone out again.
Saterday evening realised I hadn't seen her all day and started to worry a bit.
Sunday morning went to tell the warden I hadn't seen her, he wasn't in so I had to leave a note, spent all day freaking out.
Monday morning, day off from uni expected a nice lie in, got knocked out of bed at 9 by the warden hammering on the door to find out what was going on.
Did usueal day off stuff and then decided to have a nap only to be woken by the Warden to tell me I needed to go to Student Services if she wasn't back by this morning.
She wasn't so off I went to worry student services this morning, they agreed it was odd and set about finding a contact number.
I got home tonight, she was in the kitchen cooking LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED.
Turns out her mum showed up by suprise on Thursday and took her to Edinburgh, she was gonna leave a note but she doesn't know how to write a lot of English so instead she (I kid you not), left a bottle of IRN BRU in the freezer as a signal.
I'm really confussed as to why frozen IRN BRU would possibly say "I'M IN EDINBURGH, DON'T WORRY I'M NOT DEAD!".
Come to think of it I did think it was a bit weird that there was IRN BRU in the freezer, but HA'WAY.
I didn't think people this weird existed :S
Why does crazy shit like this always happen to me?
